Another Vista Sidebar gadget: Volume control
I was originally planning to publish the Volume control gadget in time for the Norwegian Vista gadget competition, but missed the deadline slightly. In retrospect, I should have submitted the Volume control to the compo, rather than the quick launch gadget noted on earlier. SwiftRun is an odd little thing, with many quirks, and a limited audience. C'est la Vie :-)
In either case, I'm pondering whether or not I should give the gadget api another nudge. While it does seem like a slight waste of time, it would be fun to explore exactly how far the sidebar boundaries could be stretched (e.g. embedded DirectX, desktop control, etc.)

I think the gadget looks looks great. The reflection on the bottom is a nice touch. Personally, I think what is missing (and a great irony, given your recent work on SwiftRun) is a feature to bind hotkeys to volume up, down, and mute toggle).

I agree; I did consider adding hotkey support, but decided that it wasn't crucial given the many multimedia keyboards out there.
Now that you've brought it up, though, I'll add it within a few days :-)
The gadget is really nice and pretty useful. Thank you.
The only thing I'm noticing, it doesn't always update the volume bar when I change it through the standard Windows volume icon or through some hotkey on the keyboard, but it does as soon as I click on the gadget.

This volume control for adding into my vista gadget is so kwel!
I like the part where you can add 2 volumes, where I put the second volume on to my second large wall monitor.
I do have a question? Vista has many volume controls that are used to change different sound channels with the software I open and use.
I's it possible for next release or update to inclued and show all volumes within your volume control sidebar? This creation would just outstand for quick adjusting different channels.

HI There. The Volume control Gadget is great. Can;t finde anything else like it!
However.. I'm running it on Windows 7 RC and it doesn;t float on the desktop like the other controls - it seems fixed in place.
Looks like the difference Vist sidebar vs. win7 destop thing. If so will you update the control for Win7?
